This day was really successful doing my DHTML-Image Editor. Cropping now works (PHP supported) well and now I only have to cleanup the code to make it become publishable in the future.
This motivated me to get myself to walking in London once more, which I haven't really done in this week yet.
I looked up my "London: A-Z" map and decided, I wanted to go to the "Screen on Green", "Angel Station" (just because of its name), the "Business Designe Centre" and "Regents Park" and maybe even to the Baywaters-Hotel area.
As it was already 17:30, I decided to not take my camera with me, as it should get dark quite soon. I walked the Canal starting from brodway market, which was a real nice walk. Nice houses just by the water, kind of reminded me of pictures of venice. Walking around that took quite some time, and at one point there was a really huge building which several appartments in Islington I inspected. Damn, I should have brought my camera!
After that I didn't see the canal any more, and didn't want to go back, so I just went straight through the beginning of Islington to pinpoint myself on the map. Of course, I went completely in the wrong direction, and couldn't get that easy to the canal any more: Most streets leading to that were dead-ends. Now I walked the wharfs until I got to the canal once again.
After some while walking there again I soon reached Angel station. A real nice area in the midst of Islington, which was fully crowded. I found out, that Angel station is just a subway station, but there are many Angel references all around: Angel Place, Angel Park, Angel Whatever. But everything quite cozy.
I decided to walk the shopping/restaurant area of Islington some more up to the "Screen on Green" nearby. There were so many great restaurants around, that was really exciting. I would have loved to spend a year going to every single one of them. Each of the restaurants had some special architecture inside, and really great atmosphere. And the weirdest thing: There was a total of maybe 50 restraunts, and 40 of them all being exciting! Haven't seen such a great quote in any city yet. But I didn't go into any of them, because dining there alone imposed no fun to me.
I arrived on the screen on green and found out, that it was just a normal Theatre/Cinema kind-of-thing, showing a football game this night. Yeah, great. Nothing for me. So I went back and visited the "Business Design Centre", which was more like a shop for office-utilities. Great, too.
My plan for this night suggested the Regent's Park next, but I thought as it was already too dark (it was around 20:00h), that would be no fun at all. Getting to the Bayswater-area was also too distant, so I just wanted to eat something and then get back to home.
But what should I eat? As I rejected any of those fine restaurants, I looked out for some McDonald's, but their offerings didn't strike my today's taste. So I made up my mind that I *had* to find a subway store. I decided to walk to Oxford street, because there should be one around, or maybe even sooner.
When I arrived in Oxford street, of course I had not found any subway yet. All out of luck, this day. But, wait - I knew that there was one I already went to in SoHo. So I tried to get there, shouldn't be that hard, because I already went there thrice.
Of course it was hard. I got lost all the way, always went into wrong directions because the map I took with me was not detailed enough to find out where I was at. Added my disability reading maps.
But somehow I managed to get to Soho and found the subway, where I got myself a footlong Italian BMT once again. WHohow, they're so tasty! But it seems that a footlong is too much for me.
Then I went back to Oxford street to get in a bus back to home. But because of some closed road, the bus took another route, and I couldn't orientate myself anywhere. I quickly dropped out of the bus some time later, and found out that my map did not contain the area I was in. Great! That really got me angry and annoyed, and I went helplessly around the streets until I found a map on a bus-stop, which guided me home finally. Of course, not without taking some error-routes again.
At home I had to cool myself down with two more angel episodes.
