This day began just like I wished it wouldn't: With me having throat-aches. About once a month I'm having those, ever since I was a child. In that time my tonsils were often swollen to twice the size, so I got them out at the age of 17. Together with having my nose-bone corrected to be able to breathe better. Of course those two surgeries weren't improving the situation anyhow, and instead of having my tonsils swollen I now always have a complete infection of my throat. However, so it was time again to experience this in the night.
But after all we went to the office at about 9:30 and Jose and me discussed some flowcharts of the project, which took us the whole morning. For lunch I got me a chicken-sandwich in a bar called Amardillo, brasillian-flavored. With that I had my first 'Organic Cola', suitable for vegetarions. Yeah, well
The sandwich itself was good but with too much bread and the chicken had too much fat. But I always find something to critisize about - the cola actually tasted like german Coka Cola Light with Lemon: Quite sour.
I spent the afternoon with some preparations for the project; setting up FTP and WWW-space together with Jose, discussing SSH/CVS access (which we won't have) and downloading some PEAR-packages.
Then I went shortly to a local store to buy some of my beloved chocolate-cookies, a real cola and muffins with chocolate inside. I wonder why do english stores only have 2-litre cola-bottles...and why the hell aren't they able to make SOLID PLASTIC BOTTLES? Those they have are falling apart as soon as the bottle gets opened...but well.
I then went the first time alone through the park to the home. It's a somehow cool experience to walk a park with englishmen surrounding you. The whole situation is so nice to me, having the english language all around me. I really enjoy hearing english words floating around me, as I think the english language is so different to listen to than german. Makes me want to watch more english movies and series instantly.
So now I have returned to Jose's home where I'm reading some mail, rss feeds and stuff on my notebook and I hope that soon we have telephone access in the house, so I can finally call and hear Emba again. Major drawback in the whole trip, that she can't be with me here. Speaking of her, I will have to order a notebook for her tomorrow. We decided (via
de.comp.sys.notebooks) to get her an
Acer Travelmate 290 XCI, Centrino-powered. Even though she might not need some of the features as a standard-student, it's price and performance is great. And I have to get Emba aware of
ICQ2Go so that we can chat from her Cologne Fachhochschul-Library.
I think I'll watch some Angel series or another movie now, and hope that my throat-ache will recover till tomorrow, so that I can explore the city in the evening.
